Every day brings new developments related to the virus and the uncertainty can be unsettling. As your business association, we acknowledge that information changes daily, hourly, and minute by minute.  We are here to help with information as it becomes available.

Precautions to Prevent Exposure

  *   Clean your hands often; wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (or use hand sanitizer as an alternative).
  *   Avoid touching your face.
  *   Use a tissue as a barrier when touching high-touch surfaces such as rails and door handles.
  *   Disinfect your frequently used objects (such as your phone).
  *   Avoid handshaking, crowds, and non-essential travel.
  *   Change your clothes and wash them accordingly
  *   Do not visit elderly loved ones.  Feel free to pick up the phone or use FaceTime to check in on them

If You’re Not Feeling Well

  *   Stay home.
  *   Wait at least 24 hours after a fever has subsided before returning to work or leaving home.
  *   Call your doctor’s office if symptoms are persistent or turn severe.
Social Distancing – Practice Social Distancing when possible. See attached form.

Mind Your P’s & Q’s- Be careful of what we say- it is normal for people to be concerned and worried. Look for truth and choose to ignore the fear-based messages that so many are sharing on social media feeds. If we maintain a focus of calm, it will send a powerful message

Focus on Solutions- The situation we are in as a nation can be overwhelming if we spend time focusing on things we have no control over. We do have control over some things- Focus on our family, friends, and teams. Acknowledge that we have a choice to be optimistic or pessimistic. If we focus on the positive and optimistic, it will help everyone have a better end result to this crisis. Make sure to check in on those that cannot get out and about during this time.

Food Insecurity- In order to help alleviate food insecurity, the Salem-Keizer School District is will be offering breakfast and lunch grab and go bags, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 36 locations. Meals are available to any child 18 and under. Marion Polk Food Share has multiple food pantry sites around the community, as well. Click the link here to view locations.

Let Your Customers Know – Make sure that your customers are in the know about your business. Have you adjusted to remote operations? Are you canceling or rescheduling appointments?  Do you have the option to send documents remotely and focus on the electronic solution? How about conducting business via Skype or Zoom?  Updated your hours on Facebook, the web, email, etc.  Does your business offer to-go or delivery services?

We Are All in This Together- Feel free to reach out to your local business community and connections to assist with any suggestions and continued preparation and response.  Consider ordering lunch or dinner for your teams.  Get them a gift certificate for going above and beyond with helping customers.  Provide them daily encouragement and feedback.
